Castle Rock Museum
CASTLE ROCK HISTORY MUSEUM

Did you ever wonder what it was like to live in Castle Rock 120-130 years ago even more? I bet a lot has changed, and some things will never change here in Castle Rock (like paying taxes). A good way to cure your curiosity is pack up the family (or go by yourself) to the Castle Rock Local History Museum located at 420 Elbert St. in downtown Castle Rock. At our local History Museum there are exhibits about local governments; railroad history; also early agriculture and industry. Our Local History Museum is open from noon to five p.m. Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Castle Rock has an estimated population of around 16,000 and growing. It is 15 minutes from the Denver Tech Center and 30 Minutes from Downtown Denver.

Many moons ago agriculture was the mainstay of Castle Rock. Then somewhere in the mid to late 1800s rhyolite mining in Castle Rock became a big thing.
If you look around the Castle Rock Community you will see more than a couple of historic buildings that are put together from the rhyolite stone mined in
Castle Rock.
